National Fund for Municipal Workers

Trustee elections 2023

Dear valued member

As you are aware, the National Fund for Municipal Workers conducted trustee elections to fill three vacancies on the Board of Trustees. There were two vacancies in Gauteng and one in Mpumalanga.

The election process was conducted from July to October 2023 and members within these two provinces could participate in the elections. The elections were communicated using various communication platforms to ensure that the Fund reached the majority of the fund membership.

The closing date for the nomination of candidates was 4 August 2023. A vetting process was completed by the Fund to ensure the fitness and probity of nominees who qualify to stand for election into office as a Trustee of the NFMW. Voting opened on 5 September 2023, with members having the option to either submit a hard copy ballot form or use the online voting platform to cast their votes before the 29 September 2023 deadline.

The votes cast were validated for legitimacy, duplicates and spoilt votes removed, weighted according to the Rules of the Fund, and finally counted.
