Improved benefits effective 1 July 2017
We are excited to announce that from the 1st of July 2017, NFMW members enjoy improved benefits and have the option to make use of any of the following voluntary products;
- Funeral cover for parents and parents-in-law
- Funeral cover for up to eight members of your extended family
- Funeral cover conversion option which allows members to continue with the funeral cover when they resign, are retrenched or retire
- Critical illness insurance
The additional funeral cover and critical illness insurance are provided by Sanlam, on a completely voluntary basis and members can structure it to best suit their individual needs.

VOLUNTARY FUNERAL COVER AND CRITICAL ILLNESS INSURANCE
The additional funeral benefit provides NFMW members with the option to cover their parents, parents-in-law and their extended family and/or opt to continue with their funeral cover even after ending service. Members can also opt for the critical illness cover which can provide much needed financial assistance whilst recovering from a major illness or injury. It is important to note that the premium for the cover is payable directly to Sanlam via direct debit order. Click here to read more.
IMPROVED BENEFITS EFFECTIVE 1 JULY 2017!
Category C (main fund) - The funeral benefit was increased from R40 000 to R42 000 for the main member and the qualifying spouse/life partner.
Category A (2% fund) - Members 40 years and older now have the option of no risk cover. In the case of death and disability only the fund credit is payable.
Members have the option to change their risk cover category twice a year effective 1 July and 1 January or when their personal status change i.e. marriage, birth of a child. Medical underwriting may be required for changes. Click here to download the risk cover option-form ,attach a copy of the member's ID, make sure the correct risk option choice is selected and that the form is signed. The form and supporting documents must be submitted directly to the fund.
